About Us

Mission Statement

The Miami Political Review (MPR) is a student-run news outlet for the publication of research and reporting on politics, policy, and culture in a quality, non-partisan format. Undergraduate students at Miami University are able to publish their opinion pieces and feature articles through MPR to foster healthy and public debates on local, US, and world politics.

Austin Strykowski

Editor-In-Chief

Austin Strykowski is a senior Political Science major who is also minoring in Finance and French. He has worked in a variety of service fields including: Boys and Girls Club, Americorps, and St. Vincent De Paul. On campus, he participates in College Mentors for Kids where he is Vice President of Programming, the Miami University Sailing Team, where he is the Treasurer, and intramural ice hockey. He also works as a TA for Accounting 221. Following graduation, he plans to pursue a J.D. with the hopes of practicing international business contract law.

Aron Cooper

Managing Editor

Aron Cooper is a senior Criminology major who is minoring in anthropology. He has done research for The Prosecution Project, analyzing political crimes, hate crimes, and terrorist organizations. He has also worked for Geauga County child and adult protective services. Following graduation, he plans to pursue a master’s degree in criminology with the hope of joining the FBI.

Annabel DeChant

Journal Editor

Annabel DeChant is a senior double majoring in Political Science and Strategic Communication, with a minor in Art History. She has worked in civic engagement and voter turnout promotion, political science
research, local government, communications, and campus sustainability. Following her time at Miami, she hopes to pursue a PhD in Political Science, with a focus on comparative climate and Green politics in the European Union. In her free time, she enjoys running, reading, and tennis.

Lilly Rini

Marketing Manager

Lilly Rini is a junior Marketing major with a minor in Fashion. Her future plans are to work a marketing job in the fashion industry. Currently, she stays involved on campus through commitments such as being a member of the Programming Council for her sorority, Zeta Tau Alpha. She also works at King Library part-time.

Sela Turkel

Director of Communications

Sela Turkel is a junior Political Science major with a concentration in women’s studies. She is active on campus through undergraduate research opportunities as well as the College Democrats and Women in Law clubs. She interned in the DC office of Senator Richard Blumenthal during summer 2024 and plans to continue her work in public policy through non-profit work.
